I got back to Poole last night and missed the tide for going up to Ridge, so picked up a buoy at Hamworthy.
Got the tide up the river at 06:00 this morning and couldn’t see more than 20mtrs. Radar and chart plotter really proved itself.

I don't know what they hit but the boat is north of Brownsea near the fuel barge. Only the top of the bridge deck was visible when I went past it. A couple of boats were buzzing around it, perhaps salvage.

There was some mist from 13.00 - 20.00 yesterday while I was out in Poole Harbour but no fog near us. Looked like there may have been some sea mist outside the harbour.

Spoke to the Harbour Master launch this morning and it appears he hit an old mooring or something on the bottom near the fuel barge at low water it took the bottom out. HM said boat draft was 4 feet but I would have thought a 45 foot mobo would draw more.

As I draw 4 ft 8 inches I will stay clear of the barge at low water.

Off to Devon tonight so I will stay in the channel!!

That part of the wheelhouse still visble when I went past at 06.00 ish Sunday morning looked very much like an MFV. I heard the latter end of the emergency on the radio Saturday morning, and visibility was only about 50 metres then, so I guess they strayed out of the channel....

4 ft sounds about right is she has shafts. We have a 41ft outdrive boat and we only draw just over 3 ft when off the plane and about a foot when on the plane.

The reef southeast of the fuel barge sticks out a lot further than many people think and if, for example concentrating on poor visibility issues, someone got too close.............
Funny time for someone to hit an uncharted hazard in a busy area - nowhere near low water let alone a low tide!
