You are an experienced bunch so I'm keen to know about what weather actually arrived on Sunday 10:00 to 14:00 Hurst Point and immediately west. Mrs & I went along to watch some race action from Hurst Point and since that's a 3km plus and very pleasant walk, we got to have a good long look at a good range of mobos playing for a few hours. Still dont know what we want... My question is to assist with personal "calibration" of weather conditions. Can anyone advise what the weather conditions were for that that day in that location, forecast / actual? Anyone outh there with a first hand report? My take from early reading about weather is that is was at least F4, strong wind with choppy waves (so I'd not be out in it): am I anywhere near?

You could try http://www.weather-file.com/hurst/ for some data....
 
im no expert by any stretch but having been out where you say at the time you say (and allowing for the fact we always think its more than it really is) i would say it was a force 5 gusting 6 at times.

We were out the other side of the shingles and it was was stiffer than in christchurch bay which was positively calm in comparison.

made for some lovely waves and perfect conditions for a testing offshore race!!
