I am considering buying a Sunbeam 37 or 39. I am buying the boat as a liveaboard and intend to spend some time in the Med followed by the Atlantic circuit and then likely to go on a circumnavigation.

My query is whether these boats are man-enough for the task or whether I should be looking more at the H-R or Najad or possibly an older Oyster. In other words how strong is the Sunbeam hull? Also I see that the mast on the Sunbeam is deck stepped - is this a problem.

I would appreciate any advice that you may have about the suitability of this boat or whether deck stepped mast are ok for blue ocean cruising. If you don't wish to comment on this forum let me know and I'll send you my Email

Many Thanks

Its interesting that you should ask this question because I have been interested in this make for a few years. When I have seen them at boat shows they have always impressed, but there are not enough around in this country to have a “name”. I will be interested to her what’s said. Austria is not the first country hat come to mind when considering maritime tradition!
