Gone very quiet on here - so, lets create some activity.

Where and when is everyone going on summer cruise?

Guapa
When? : July 22nd - Aug 20th
Where?: In the past we've never ended up where we planned to go.
So this year's the plan's Holland - at least we won't end up there then /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Kinda hoping we get to the alternative -> Channel Islands. Out along UK South Coast, back via Normandy.

Well, I was planning to go visit the Grandparents on the IOW with a week off. But some chap has decided he wants to buy my boat, and buy it now. So I shall probably be boatless by the planned week, and spend it instead looking over the proposed new boat. If that turns out to be OK, then I will have no holidays left, and I shall have to pay someone else to deliver it home for me. Hmmm, bit of bad planning that.

Then it is a matter to decide between a swing mooring at Levington or a possible berth at Neptune.

Well, we have two weeks off starting the weekend of 7th/8th July.

We were thinking about heading to the Channel Islands as last time we went that direction (in our previous, slower boat) we only got to the mouth of the Seine (Honfleur).

This was because we decided pretty early on in that trip that we didn't want to be travelling every day for two weeks just to get a weekend in Jersey.

The plan this time is a couple of longer 'hops' than before. Maybe Orwell - Dover - Fecamp - Cherbourg - CIs. That could give time for a couple of islands. Who knows.

Nothing set in stone and if it's a hideous forecast, we may just fly somewhere sunny. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I really don't know.

We have had a week for the Oostend trip.

My son don't know when or if he available to sail due to a new job in the offing.
Eldest daughter came along on the Oostend trip and is having her main holiday with her non-sailing Husband.
Youngest daughter is doing lots of other things with her boyfriend.
My wife does not enjoy sailing.

At the invite of FullCircle I am going to the Burnham Week.
My cousins daughter will crew for me on that and we will scratch up some other crew with my son and his friends.

It looks like some long weekends etc to use up my annual leave.
Can't roll it over to next year (Thanks Mr. B Lier /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif)

Or I may get feed up and go off for a week by myself.

Friday July 13th - Saturday July 21st

Destinations Southwold, Lowestoft, Aldeburgh & the Deben (not necessarily in that order...)

Subject to:

a) Shotley Marine Services getting the engine back together in time.

b) New IT installation at work switching on OK on July 2nd.

Not feeling stressed at all... /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Last October originally! Got the boat all set up, got up in the middle of the night, felt really ill and couldn't see the fog for the wind and rain so gave it up (vis was still around half a mile four hours later so it was probably for the best).

Haven't managed to get life, work and boat all suitably aligned ever since.

I will have a go shortly but after a great day out last Sunday now have a small fuel leak and a more worrying seacock problem to sort so I'm grounded for a few days.

Beer is tempting though (thanks for the offer /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif) so I'll let you know when my next attempt gets scheduled...

2 one week breaks, Mid July, end Aug.

Originally planned to take wife & youngest on medium dayhops - Deben, Brightlingsea, Walton, Orde. They are both new to this game, and I'm trying not to scare them too much, but I don't know how many times you can go to South Cork bouy & back! Also, all of these places will be first time entries for me, so a 2nd reason for picking the weather & timings.
If all went well, then I was looking at Ramsgate & Dover for the August trip.
It's possible I might have the occasional beer as well
