Been talking to one of 'temporary' relief lockies who is now quitting through sheer frustration with the EA. Having worked years as as a temporary relief (how can they be temporary after working for years?) via an employment agency, they and all the others were laid off last month by the EA for what should have been 2 weeks. They also had to then re-apply and be interviewed for fresh contracts. That happens every year to break their contracts and make sure they can not claim continuity of employment rights.
They were all due to be back at their lock 4 April, that moved to 11 April after being told the EA had 'compliance 'issues to be resolved, and that's still ongoing with no start date in sight for anyone. Meanwhile the permanent keepers are triple manning. I wonder how many more the EA will lose as these poor people vote with their feet as the economy reopens?
