Hi All
Just thought I would let the med cruiser fraternity know that we have 2 weeks cruising on board Elle coming up starting today... Horah!
Arriving St Carles tonight, Port Soller Mallorca on the 17th for 6 nights and then Porto Portals for 5 nights and then back to St Carles.
If any forumites around those parts see us, please say come by or say hi ;-)

Cool. It hadn't occurred to me that Port Soller is the closest Mallorcan port to Sant Carles. Another good reason for keeping the boat there. Looks like its a little over 100 nm's? Is it an easy crossing?

A night in Andratx might be worth doing in between PS and PP if you've not been thee before.

Pete

We are still in Mallorca.
Mostly at anchor at the moment.
Be aware that there are huge swells forecast in the north of Mallorca over the next few days.
We overnighted in Calobra the night before last and last night on Santa Ponsa.
Tonight we are on the north side of Palm Nova right next to Puerto Portals
The south seems to be calmer than the north.
Take care - your crossing and Solier could be rough.
Plan for both wind and swell.

Spoke to some locals in Alcudia a couple of days ago - they said that the water level has been steadily rising in the north.
It usually does this just before a storm.

Hi Mike
Yes a difficult one to judge ..we are fuelled up and ready to go just watching for a window ....will let you know ..on paper tomorrow early morning looks best but locals say no one can really know ...so will have to see what it looks like in the morning ...

according to passage weather Monday morning looks best, some big storms to the north of Mallorca tonight!

We decided to go for it yesterday morning and have arrived safely..journey was really easy in the end..just point 129deg and sit there for 5 hours at 20knots...sea state was calm all the way..a few dolphins and then the island appears like magic...happy days :-)

You were lucky
There has been some big swell in the north of Mallorca and some very strong localised winds created by thunder/rain storms.
We spent the day going backwards and forwards across Palma Nova twice then Magaluf (a first for us) then Illetas then eventually into Club Nortico where we are tonight - and great meal in the Hard Rock Cafe.
Loads if anchoring today - some more extreme than others.
Our V4 windlass is holding up well - lets hope it lasts the season.

I think you said you are planning to head this way - Puerto Portals I think you said.
I think there is a possibility that the weather will clear for Es Trenc
If so, why not come out of Portals.
We will be on anchor most if the week with others from Sant Carles.
We could introduce you to team SC.

If the weather isn't good enough fot the Trenc then you will find us either in Santa Ponsa or Palma Nova.
We will be here until about the 27th - after which we finally head home to SC
