Anyone know anywhere that stocks Grundens stuff in the UK? Can't seem to find one on Google but given the risk of more showers in the coming weeks, I thought one of these might be appropriate:

(Grundens Sandhamn 21 Souwester, extra wide brim, neck protection and ear flaps, Welded water ditch, Cotton flannel lined)

I'd order from the states but it would be really handy to have one by Monday...

All joking aside though, what used to be called W&R Lewis, are also huge stockists of marine ropes, chains, shackles etc, and are much cheaper than some places locally.

"Summer Hats" I got all excited at the title only to find you are talking about Souwesters.

Hats worn by me are always the Arab style as sold by the Cancer foundation with a flap down the neck and wrap around sides that velcro under the chin to cover ears neck and sides of face. With sun glasses there is not much exposed skin, with long sleeved shirt gloves and long trousers. Unfortuantely I think I have a skin cancer forming on the top of my foot. (Must get it burned off) I always sail barefooted. I do put sun screen on the feet however.
So there is the contrast. Thats what Summer Hats means to me. And I wear them in the winter. olewill
PS if it going to rain or be a wet sail I stay home.

Didn't mean to confuse; this Summer in the UK has been remarkably wet and windy so the bit about Summer hats was intended as humour. My boat has an open helm position and I'm bored of soggy wool caps and rain running down my neck so I thought a Souwester might come in handy.

That's not to say that we haven't had a few really nice days but then I just rush out suitably underdressed and get burnt rotten, ending up shortly after with the uniquely uncomfortable sensation of sunburnt feet in wellies /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

They're now Cosalt Lewis apparently, part of the Cosalt group. I got the impression that the idea of a Grundens Souwester came as something of a surprise to them but they did go and check and said it would be 10 days to get one in... but I might as well order one from the US myself at that.
