Summer Boats Ruining Abingdon-on-Thames

What? Families 'lunch' 2 greasy sausage rolls for a quid?
Sorted.
Can of carbonated sugar and their done.
Just.....................................................................................................NO.

Greggs wasn't a confirmed destination. I was merely offering to feed the troll;)

Oxford capitalises on its punts.
Cant see why Abingdon cant capitalise on its ...river.
Mind you its pretty treacherous all the way up to Sandford Lock.
The so called Thames Path is just a muddy 2'wide in places unkempt muddy footrack
through frankly uninhabited jungle.Tree roots block it many times.
Lord help you if any misfortune should befall you out there.Elderly hikers etc.
There is no Thames Riverboat Police Service there as far as I can make out.
Dense foliage and jungle.
The river bank is overgrown even the Polish fishermen cant get to the bank without
destroying the bank foliage.
Then you have to wait hours in the various Locks.
Dead end if you ask me.
The Salters steamer takes 4 hours to reach Oxford.
You can do it in 10 minutes on the A34 by bus
Or 30 minutes on a good bicycle downhill half the way.
The Nags head is the pits.
Boozed up mugs burger food.
Anywhere near rivers has rats.

Well Ive just had the misfortune to peruse the online Town Council Meetings of various reports going back to 2011.
The apathy and torpor is mind boggling/
These are pdf docus available to all.
Theres no mention of boats or a Riverside Quarter.Only one mention. That 'promotional flyers could
be dumped on boats moored along the riverside.
The derelict Upper Reaches hotel is lamented as the tenants owners have security of tenure and The Council
is not even allowed to enter the property under any circumstances apparently. So it lies empty as does it mooring stage.
No plans are for it at all.
(derelict 5 years?)
The Council and a tiny handful of Committee folks generally agree Abingdonians ought to be given something to do in the town.
Suggested is a cinema projector ala WW2 in the derelict empty theatre hall
(Drelict 5 years?)Amey hall.
Or a pop up ice rink in the cobblestoned main square on the cheap.Presumably frozen water sprayed over the
pavement.
Apart from that that's about it for 7 years work from 2011.
They agree charter centre is "a bit gloomy"and toyed with the idea of having a supermarket in the bottom of the multi story car park but nothing has come of that.
The French market left never to return as there was tension with the regular shops.
As for meeting places of the opposite sexes-zilch.
or anything else for that matter.
Banality writ large.
So hey ho,
I guess the place will continue to go to hell in a handcart
