Hi,

Thinking of moving the boat to Poole from Brighton.. Obviously Marina costs are significantly more (some as much as double the price).. So I am thinking of putting her on a swing mooring.. Preferably a non-drying mooring..

Anyone have any suggestions on where would be a good place to look?

Also does anyone know what the annual Poole Harbour fees are for a 7.9m boat? I can't seem to find a price list anywhere..

Thanks..

Hi wipe_out

I don't work for the marina, I work for the onsite brokerage (same boss), but look at our place, Parkstone Bay Marina.
We are about 10min to 15min from the harbour entrance with great facilities, new toilets and showers, lovely cafe, petrol & diesel, free water taxi, free tender pool.
We are a shallow bay, but with the exception of dead low water you will be fine. If you are on outboard or outdrive I would change that to low water spring tides.

Swinging Mooring, 01/04 to 30/09 for up to 8m is £1,008 inc vat.
Winter Storage (inc tow in, lift, pressure wash and block off) is the same again.

Harbour dues are £12.13pm inc vat.
Crown Estates are £97.

Parkstone Bay offer pontoons at £4,410 for up to 8m or Dry berthing at £3,900 for up to 8m as an alternative to the mooring.

www.parkstonebay.com to take a look or call the marina office on 01202747857.

Hi,

That sounds very interesting..

We are on an outdrive so would that mean we have to leave the drive trimmed up when we leave?
Are the hydraulic rams OK with being left trimmed up in the water?

Thanks

I am not an engineer so wouldn't like to comment regarding the rams, but most of our owners do trim up and I am not aware of any / many issues relating to rams.

One or two of the moorings have full depth of water at all states (we have a number - lots - of shallowish draft yachts on the moorings). They tend to be a little further from the marina - the moorings run from 100m to +/- 400m from the marina out into Parkstone Bay. The deeper ones tend to be towards the far end.
I would still suggest trimming up to be sure though and I was more referring to coming and going than the actual mooring itself.

There are many worse places in the harbour to keep your boat and from the girls in the office to the guys out in the marina / yard the staff are really helpful.
I kept my own boat here until I sold it and a number of forum members are either or were berthholders. Hopefully someone else can comment rather than just a guy who works for the same group of companies! :)

Thanks Nautibusiness.. Very useful information.. Might be worth a visit later in the week as the season is really about to start.. :)

Do that, it would be nice to see you!
Drop in and meet the ladies in the office, have a wander round the marina, the guys can (or I'd be pleased to) show you where the moorings are, stop for lunch in the cafe...
