I'm currently looking to buy a yacht, and wondered if any of you could suggest models that I might have overlooked.

My requirements are
- New or used
- Priced below 45K, in good condition
- Length around 28ft
- Prefer draft of 4'6" or less
- Sea kindly. At least RCA Cat B, preferably Cat A.
- At least 2 cabins. Cosy, as opposed to open plan, saloon.
- At least 4 berths. Prefer stowage to additional berths.

Currently, I'm considering
- Hallberg Rassy 29
- Vancouver 28
- Parker 275 and 285HS

Are there any others which are worth a look?

Thanks,

Rich

Some thoughts

A Twister (28', 5' draft) will get you there quicker than a Vancouver 28, and you'd be sailing a classic. Not as much home comfort as a Vancouver though.

The Sadler 29' is often quoted as a paragon of small boat virtue, but I have never set foot in one myself.

That money would buy a very nice Hustler or Rustler 31 and leave plenty of change.

You'd find a good Contessa 32 or Sadler 32 at that sort of price point.

Rich,

Sadlers are great sea boats in general - the 29's got a great reputation and would easily fit your budget. Unless length is a particular constraint, why not take a look at a Sadler 32 or 34. Think you would ultimately appreciate the greater amount of cabin space. U can also find them in shallow draught form if that's important to u. However, if size/draught is of paramount concern and u want the best I'd go for the Hallberg Rassy - top quality comes at a price tho' !!

Good luck anyway - sure u'll have fun looking.
