Going cruising for new year. Which one of these two marinas would you recommend for a one-night stopover?

Or, to put it another way, which has the nicer toilet & shower block? (Ladies aboard!)

The food in the pub at Shotley is good too.....
Both are a bugger to get away from if you want to go to town. Or you could go up to Ipswich.

And at Shotley they'll treat you as a valued customer.

You can tell I'm not impressed with SYH's attitude, it's run more as a club than a professional business and suffers as a result. Its not even cheap!!

I agree Shotley is more welcoming than Levington, however there is considerable light and noise pollution from Felixstowe Docks just across the Orwell. The Bristol Arms will make up for that though! N.B.There can be strong cross eddies when the lock is opening - hope this helps.

You've got to go to shotley just to try the giant baths. They're amazing! Is there another marina in the country with facilities like that?

Hear hear JohnM ladies like baths do they not?

Re Levington, I have recollections of a nice lightship/bar or does my memory betray me.
Also Levington seems home to (attractive girls crewing) the racing yachts on sundays.
Happy new year Briani
