Sucker that does not leave a mark

Last year I bought a suction lift from Screwfix to help me hang onto the hull when going around in the dinghy in order to wash and polish the topsides. It certainly is strong, but being cheap it leaves a pair of black circles on the white gelcoat!

Can anyone recommend a suction thingy that will help me hold on but will not leave marks?

Can it be coated with something to seal the rubber eg vegetable/olive oil?

The last ones I bought from Lidl had clear plastic suckers...no marks.

Unfortunately they don't stock them all year round.

They did have them as a special 08/01/12, so they might have some kicking about.
