I subscribe to Classic Boat magazine but lately the delivery is getting later and later I stopped my subscription to PBO for this reason). Last month the April issue (published on 16th March) didn't turn up until 28th March. And the subs department didn't even acknolwedge my emails about this.

Do others suffer from this delay. It certainly puts me at a disadvantage in terms of buying popular items as I'm gong to be one of the last people to see what's for sale. The subs departement don't respond neither does the editor. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Hi Joe

Seems to be a problem for all non UK subscribers. See the thread titled "PBO Publications date" started 23-11-2005. (sorry - don't know how to post a link!) I have also had email correspondance with the subscription department but they are most unhelpful and I have given up and have not renewed my sub.

I was given my sub to PBO as a present, so when PBO automatically renewed the subscription for a second year, this was an embarassment,

I am posting this for PBO's benefit. I am not sure if there was any basis for their presumption that the gift would be perpetual, but had they written to me and asked if I wished to continue, then I would probably have agreed.

I will not be renewing my PBO subscription because I am fed up with seeing it in WHSmith for 2 days before I get it through the post. I specifically asked about this when I signed up at LIBS because of the same problem with Private Eye and was assured that I would get it earlier than the shop would.

There have always been problems with late delivery of Subs copies.

I don't know if the same applies now, Keith might know the answer, but subs used to be bulk posted at a reduced rate to keep the sub price down. The delays were mainly due to Post Office slow sorting and delivery.

Magazines can't come off the presses too far ahead of publishing date or content becomes even more dated and this can affect subs copies' delivery.

2 day delay in return for a 25(?) percent saving in cost plus delivered to your door. The expression 'Cutting off nose to spite face' comes to mind. Can't you find anything else to read for 2 days. Chill.

As soon as I saw your comment, Stig, I thought to myself Eire?

One of the magazines for which I had responsibility for their exhibitions was Horse and Hound.

We got constant complaints from Irish readers of late delivery of up to three weeks. The magazine, being weekly was of great topical interest to the Irish "horsey" community and we were used to getting a mouthful at various events.

This all happened back in the 1980s and early 1990s and the problem was traced to the handlling after the copies arrived in Eire. It looks as though some things just don't change, the problem being with the Irish Post system, not the UK one..
