I dont like being negative but I did get the impression that I would be watching "a stunning video a powerboat race"
Whilst it may have been technically good, I am not qualified on that aspect. The first 30 seconds intro made me feel sick - the rest was a bit of a harbour, a few smokey boats and some people standing around I neever really got any idea that there was a race going on.

Hi nickd

Thanks for your input. The idea of the video was to get an overall idea of the event. Apart from the helicopter shots it is near on impossible to get on the water shots of the whole race as these craft travel in excess of 100MPH.

Many Thanks

:encouragement: Given that your son can't exactly persue the racers in any craft he can supply on his own (a well voiced fact when it comes to most offshore racing limiting it as a spectator sport) I thought the choreography of the clip to be good for a targeted / promotional sector. I think the previous posters were expecting event coverage which is something different entirely. Wish your son the best in this venture.

The music at the beginning was an intro into the video pretty good but then cut it and let the engines do the talking. I thought he capture some good shots in the marina felt the panning shots around the marina were a little shaky.
I would cut out some of the smoke as it look like a load on knackered engines firing up (green party would be horrified)
As the boats were heading out to the start it was fab but flicked between the boats to quickly and again cut the music as I want to here the engines.

The slow motion shots were brill as it enhanced the rooster tails.

Overall I thought he captured the race very well.

They just need some glamour and a great presenter for this promotion of this race to get more coverage. It's not just about the racing but what goes into the build up.

I don't understand why they don't sound record the boats while there racing and then add it to the aerial shots of the helicopter footage so they can cut the music.

"He worked alongside VectorMartiniRacing in capturing the footage of this iconic offshore powerboat race

Just out of interest what bits did your son do as he couldn't be in the helicopter, following on a chase boat and ashore or did he just do the edit ?

Blimey, there are a couple of harsh critics on here! I was there in Cowes on Saturday & Sunday & I thought you captured it really well, great video :)

HI

Thanks for all your inputs.

Millie Boo Too . He took the shots on shore and in the chase boat. Helicopter shots from Vector Martini. Thanks .

Bramars Thank you for your positive comments

Cheery Thanks also

Plenty of time for him to gain experience as this is only his 3rd video clip.

He usually does all the camera work and all the editing. Just on this commission very hard to chase powerboats travelling in excess of 100MPH.

Thanks to all once again for watching

Keith
