Just back from two weeks out along the northern coast of NI and Eire. Isle of Man to Argyll via Aran Island. Every port/anchorage was new during the 2 weeks of cruising. The wind on the way out was fresh from the west and on the way back fresh from the east; perfect conditions for a natural pessimist. With each headland it was like the nautical equivalent of mountain climbing - you scale one peak only to find another one on the horizon. Malin Head was as bleak and wild as I imagined, but it was well worth the effort. We got to Tory Island and the High pressure set in. magic!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif NW Donegal was a brilliant area for cruising, wonderful anchorages.
Thanks to those from the forum who proferred advice re charts and weather some weeks ago.

Stunning indeed during high pressure - and more or less deserted. Unfortunately the sea can get high quite quickly so its sort of pot luck.
Tory is noted for its corncrakes (er no not cornflakes) - only place I've heard them. And did you meet the 'king'?
