HELLO YA ALL !
I have read a bit about hungry people searching for Razor Clams at low water at Studland .... Is this due to seeing them harvested on RIVER COTTAGE ? If this the case then I knew RAZORFISHBILL very well and he told me the whole thing was a set up... the Razor Clams were bought up from Weymouth market....so don't expect to get a huge quantity if you try! there are some there but only very small ones and are a bit like rubber so I'd stick with Wine Gums if you want that texture.
Another fact is during the War the MOD laid pipes out under these sands and pumped heavy black oil out which surfaced 30 yards off the south beach and was set alight as a form of beach defence ...there is an old colour war time film of this which shows the wind changing and the cliffside scrub catching fire as well .... Razorfishbill himself admitted shortly before he passed away he would'nt touch anything that came out that sand so I'd go along with that ....
