Anyone know where one can obtain a new strainer for the engine cooling water inlet..?
Mines got a larger than designed hole in it... Wonder where the bits went? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Looked in archives and googled without joy!
Cheers Bob E...

I have a complete Stuart seacock/strainer that I removed from my boat, plus a spare strainer [the strainer is unused, if I remember correctly]. I had intended to advertise them on eBay "one of these days" but perhaps we can do a deal?

The downside is that the seacock has a broken bolt that needs drilling out.

I could send a photo if you PM me with your emaill address

Yes it's a perforated metal thing about 25 or even 30 mm in diameter and about 90mm long... cap at each end so its reverable...
Looked at ASAP and only saw plastic ones but I'm going to the boat now so I'll get accurate details ..
I also like ASAP they're very helpful...
Anyway thanks and
Cheers Bob E...

[/ QUOTE ] The one I expected you to want is called "hull mounted Norfolk strainer" and available in a range of sizes, Other metal ones there as well, but not like your description but there is an inline one

My previous boat had a Stuart P55ME and when I bought a inlet water strainer from the Stuart Turner supplier in Poole (long since gone I believe) it was a modern plastic one that I had to cut down to size. I didn't have any problems with it.

I think all the replacements are plastic nowadays. My boat came with an old ST strainer but with no actual basket in it! I got one from Fairways but it ended up very expensive when the identical item would have been about half the price (I later discovered) from ASAP.
