I’ve recently installed a previously owned HP-33A and it worked well. So well in fact that I’ve just arrived at the boat today to enter my MMSI and do other stuff and the b. thing won’t work. ?

It will switch on correctly but even after checking the GPS mushroom connection and switching on/off won’t display the N/E position on any of the screens.

Is there any way I can test the mushroom or transponder unit using just a multimeter? Is there an elec fixer person who can fix it in the vicinity of Wicormarine? Many thanks in advance.

Not sure about it not working but if it is a previously owned unit and they input their MMSI indent. then it will have to go back to the manufacturer to delete it before you can add yours ?

If you are in Dorset you could try it with antenna. It will be at home for a couple more weeks

The mushroom on mine died. Luckily, replacements are easily available and quite cheap: £37 for a genuine Matsutec from Amazon. Even cheaper pattern ones are available, but they all seem to come from China so by the time you've paid delivery, duties and fees they probably cost more.

My original one was on the rear pulpit, but the replacement works perfectly happily out of the weather down below.

Have you tried the self-test system?

If you need to reprogramme the mmsi, drop me a pm as I have the Matsutec supplied procedure (very simple) . But I have since been advised that a unit factory reset may do the same thing and allow you to re enter a new mmsi as well.

When I bought mine new it came programmed with the mmsi of a Chinese copies tanker!
A factory reset sorted it.
