I spend my winter dreaming of the day when I will be able to once again 'sail off into the sunset' as the saying goes.
Here are some of my favourites. Lets see some of yours. Ahh!! The memories. They sustain me. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Apparently the boat with the green and red spinnaker was being skippered by Dennis Connor!!I wonder if the guy beating him knew!!

Great photos. I particularly liked the last one. Where is it? San Diego? It can't be Pompey 'cos there's too many aircraft carriers in the background.

Here's a sunset picture I quite like:

How do I attach an image to a message, if the image is just on the computer's disk rather than having a URL?

I find the easiest is to open a photobucket account (free), upload the picture to that and then just click and paste.

Thanks, I'll look into that. I've never heard of a photobucket (only the sort of bucket used on board) but I'll try looking on Google!

You can't, you have to create a link to a photo that is hosted elsewhere, as others say PHOTOBUCKET is the easiest

Close, but no prize.
The file you post must end in a graphic format - e.g. .jpg/.bmp/.gif etc

If you click on the field marked direct link under your picture, the correct url is loaded into clipboard, then all you have to do is click on "image" in the Instant Mark-Up in the reply page, and then paste the contents of the clipboard, and it all should work.

They've made it even easier than that now. Just click on the field marked "IMG Code" under the picture and then right-click and paste into the message field on here.

If you have pix of boats out sailing and want to try to re-unite them with their owners, so to speak, you could consider putting them on my site (see below).
I post occasional "is this you" posts with thumbnails of recent contributions.

I can never resist a sunset either. Here's Greifswald where your Hanse yotties come from;

It doesn't need to be Summer to get nice looking skies, this is a pilot boat returning to Ramsgate at dawn in February /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Great pictures! Sorry I haven't got a sunset to hand, but this picture (if the link works) has a spectacular sky, considering it was last summer in England!
