Strong adhesive for webbing to Velcro?

I'm making some straps for cables and hosepipes etc.

Any suggestions for a strong, flexible adhesive for sticking webbing to Velcro, and to itself?

I've used epoxy with some success, but it's too inflexible. Contact adhesive doesn't seem to soak into the fibres enough.

some contact adhesices have a definite upper temperature limit above which they deliquesce.


I experienced this in our Landrover in Saudi, when the velcro tabs holding the curtains gave way and formed sticky spider threads all over the seats.

Just buy a few Velcro cable ties. They're cheap as chips and come in different colours.

You can use from West System G-flex 650. Not cheap but a flexible epoxy.
You can drive a nail in it and it will not break.

Agree glue can come apart sewn it can't, use Dabond UV resistant thread.

Sewing is not an option, some of them have to be made in-situ.

I might give Sticks Like Sh*t a try, if no good then perhaps I will invest in some CT1.

What about good old Sikaflex. Sticks like whatnot to a blanket, and remains highly flexible - choice of black or white, and possibly brown or clear. 291 cure time 1 day. 292 3 days. Worth a try at least.

For cables as a tie you might look at double sided velcro or hook and pile. ie hook on one side and pile the other side. The base material is a reasonable light webbing. The beauty of this stuff is that if you want stronger you just wrap it around again. I use it at the clew of my mainsail through the eyelet and around the boom about 3 wraps is very strong.
I a have seen it at chandlery but I also found it cheaper at a haberdashery sold as cable ties. good luck olewill

I have found a needle and thread (+ a palm if necessary) to be reasonably portable and convenient to use.
