Stripping paint from gpr

I should like to strip the tatty marine paint from my gpr hull. I have had little success with Langlow's Safer Stripper. I have put it on as thickly as possible, covered it with cling film and left it for three days but had hardly any joy.

Please can any one give me advice - other than give up and paint it.

Passing on information given to me a short while ago(see 'Removing non-slip paint' lower down)
Try the International Paint site http://www.yachtpaint.com/UK/
You can also contact them direct via the site for more technical help.

Sorry for previous spurious response, but...
If this stripper stuff does not work you probably have 2 component paint to deal with. Cab only be removed mechanically i.e. a lot of elbow grease, sand blasting or such.
Perhaps its wise not to strip. just sand down and repaint.
Internationals yachtpaint.com is indeed the place to go for advice.

I have just done this exact job on my Invicta. A lot of people told me what stripper to and not to use..i tried them all. All of the so caleld marine strippers are useless. They just slide across the hull.
I then tries nitromorse in the yellow tin. It wirked a treat but it is a very long and slow job. The only thing to be aware is to wash the hull well with water after you have used nitro. You must wash it away or it will damage your gel coat.

Good luck.

No experience myself, but owner of the boat next to me in the yard this winter needed to get off 14 coats! He tried everything as well, including a sander, and ended up using a manual scraper - worked by far the best, did the job in less than a day with little damage to GRP. Be sure to wear goggles, though, maybe even a face mask.
