I win the prize for the best Ensign lowering. We were moored at Gunwharf Quay the other night waiting for the tide at Chichester. At 20:54:01 I pressed the play button on the CD player which began the 5:59s of Rule Brittania played at full blast through the Flybridge speakers. A few people came up to the side of the wall to see what was going on (I could hear the music echoing around the marina so it must have been pretty loud) At 20:59:30 I stepped regally into the cockpit and gracefully lowered the ensign at 21:00:00 as the music stopped.
Beat that!!!/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I suspect at Gunwharf Quays you should take the timing of lowering your ensign from whenever the naval ships do it. ISTR something about taking timing from the senior ship present and Red follows Blue follows White.

As for musical events, entering Worcester Basin through Diglis Lock to Ride of the Valkyries on a Bank Holiday Monday afternoon. Place was packed with onlookers, the music ended as we left the lock and there was a ripple of applause.
