Yesterday I delivered a Fisher 25 down to Ramsgate.
Left Southwold at LW and carried the tide down on the inside of shipwash, Kings channel and expected to get foul tide from the Sunk head tower onwards.
However I still had at least a knot with me until I crossed black deep into Fishermans Gat where I did see around two knots against.
About an hour later I was just passing Fisherman No2 and noticed that boat speed matched SOG.
When I got close to Ne Spit, near Margate sand, I weirdly had a knot and a half with me, which stayed with me all the way to Ramsgate.
So 10 1/2 hours sailing and only 1 hour of foul tide ?
