Strange behaviour of SH300

I fitted an SH300 plotter this year. Before our first outing I reset the Trip Log, which was showing 99.9 (I think) presumably a factory default.

At the end of the trip of around 30NM from Woolverstone to Titchmarsh and return, it was showing 168.9 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

This seems somewhat bizarre, I have read through the somewhat unhelpful manual but can find no obvious explanation.

Any ideas?

Could it have been:

You thought you reset the trip but you didn't. Your trip was actually 37nm and your unit is in km.

No the trip read 0.0 when I had reset, and is in Nm not Km.

It was incrementing at an amazing rate as we were sailing along!
