Don't ask how it got bent, but the result is a 30* bend in the stay midway up a 10m long forestay.
Approx 1 1/2 inch diameter, 20+ years old.
Mast is now down and forestay and extrusion is removed.

I would use a hydraulic press to straighten the forestay and extrusion by rotating and pressing the item straight and if you over bend turn 180 degrees and bend back

I hit an overhead cable and bent the extrusion ,,,, we cut it out and rejoined. Luckily my genoa was short enough on luff to not need replacement of missing length.

Thats one way of doing that but is you need the full length you need to insert a section.

The kink in bent stanchions can only be repaired by inserting a section and welding it up.

Lost count of the number of SS stanchions have been asked to repair

Few years back - my SR25 .. we hit a channel fairway buoy .... both of us were looking astern watching the ferry coming out ... BHAM !!

It bent the pulpit and first stanchion.

After the cruise was over and we'd returned home ... I gave both to Fishing Harbour Workshop and watched the guy bend both back to correct shape - I expected fancy tools and some welding .. but no he basically used anvil and holding devices - not marking the items - and with presses - bent them back to original.

I take my hat off to guys like that - they have the 'eye' .....
