I am in the process of mounting my spinnaker pole on the front of the mast on my fulmar, all I have left to do is the bottom mounting on the mast for the pole.

I have seen several yacht with a rod loop that swivels on the bottom of mast but can not find them for sale anywhere, can anyone help?

i am currently using a pad eye riveted to the base of the mast and a large D shackle to take the jaws of the pole.

Works perfectly and it about £100 less than the hoop.

BTW I think that the hoop is a Selden product

My pole is clipped to two loops on the mast. It has a rubber doughnut around its centre to brace it against vibration, but you do have to spring the bottom clip into place bending the pole against the rubber. No rattles, though.

Rob.

no rattles at all.

We had planned on a chock but found we didnt need one after fitting the shackle

works really well and we are into our second season with the current arrangement . Plus on the upside, if anything goes wrong, it is east to remove the shackle and if necessary change it.

The hoop (and rubber support) is indeed a Seldén product and sells for about £60 (over here at least).
