I have a Stowe Nav2 masthead unit which is faulty, the wind direction part has been very erractic for a number of years and still works from time to time. The wind speed unit gradually got slower and has now stopped turning. Does anyone do repairs on the Stowe units or sell refurbished units. The log part of the unit works well although I do not use it much and so I withdraw it and put the blocking plug into the skin fitting. Any leads would be helpful.

There used to be someone but I am talking of 20 years perhaps more ago when I decided to replace my Stowe Dataline! which was old then and it wasn't cheap to get them repaired. Spares were an issue as well even then.

Quite a bit of info and discussion about this sort of thing in an old (2023) thread "Replacing old Stowe Dataline instruments".

As a previous poster has already said, getting the anemometer to turn is often just a matter of appropriate lubrication. The manual says "inject 1/4cc sewing machine oil annually - keep in operating attitude for 2 hours after".

Fixing a direction sensing fault in the masthead unit is, in my limited experience, significantly more complicated. In addition, the relevant spare parts are now, apparently, very hard to find - if they can be found at all.

Tinley? at Lymington used to do repairs but that was 15 years ago. Not sure whether they still exist. I ended up binning my old stowedata line last year as no one wanted it and the windvane had been refurbished quite a few years earlier by a company at Haslar.

It all got binned as the cost of repairs 8 years ago to the log and a displays meant that the money was better invested in new kit that has worked well ever since.

In its day all great kit and well designed.
