I Have a Stowe Wind Gauge linked to a Stowe Close Hauled Gauge. However the close hauled indicator shows a different angle of tack from Port and starbd.
The boat sails resonably same on each tack and the Wind Gauge shows this.
When Heading straight into wind the Wind Gauge also points straight ahead.
THere seems to be something wrong with the set-up between the two instruments, and there is only a "Gain" adjuster on the back.
Anyone know how to adjust these or has a copy of the manual???

Hi David,

Sounds as if you have a relatively small alignment problem, that is difficult to detect on the 360 deg unit but shows more dramatically on the amplified wd (close hauled/running) unit. Can't remember if this can be corrected electronically and it may be a question of masthead realignment.

As you may have noticed in the For Sale section, I'm selling a bunch of Stowe gear and will shortly be sorting out the manuals, including those for the wind installation/operations etc. Gotta search for it though as the house is packed with all the boat stuff while I do a major refit! As soon as I find the manual, I'll PM you and try to help sort out your problem.
Just a thought. I had one of my masthead transducers serviced by AW Marine fairly recently (unused since) and was totally shocked by the price. Whilst the work looks and feels fine (new bearings etc but haven't tried it yet) do try to get price first if you decide to get your instrument checked out, as you may find it uneconomical.

Good sailing!

Jerry

AW knows his stuff, but being the sole source also knows how to charge a lot and was quite arogant when I asked for the cup bearing number informing me it was too fiddlely for me to change.
