The label on the inside of the trailing log I've just purchased from a boat jumble says it runs on 7.5 Volts. Does anyone know where I can buy a 7.5V battery or will a 6V or 9V be OK?

I have a Stowe Trailing Log - it takes a PP7 internally which seem to be quite difficult to find so now use an external PP9.

Havn't bothered to wire to 12v as battery lasts for ages as long as you remember to turn the log off.

I got a 12 to 9 volt converter (cig lighter socket thingie) from Maplin and fixed it in the battery space inside. Then connected to boat's 12v. I've thought of fixing the trailing bit to the bottom of the rudder (lifting) or somewhere more convenient than 50 yards astern. Any ideas?

One of the major advantages of a trailing log is the accuracy. The trailing sensor is not affected by the lamina water flow across the vessels hull. As the Stowe trailing log offers no form of calibration, readings will be very low, probably around 25%, if you attach the sensor to the hull.
