I have just acquired a Stowe electronic trailing log which I intend to use as back up when my through hull log inevitably gets clogged with barnacles etc. It is a later model (I am told) as it can run on 12v. However, I don't have a manual for it nor can locate one anywhere. Is there anyone who has a manual they don't want or can send me a photocopy?

I don't have a manual, but I bought mine new in 1986 and have had it apart a few times. There isn't really much to it, even if you are diving into the electronics, and last time I needed anything Alan Williams in Gosport held most of the parts:

Hope this helps,

The 1986 model used an electronic mechanical counter but your later model should have a digital counter. It's very straightforward, switch on and throw cable with spinner over back corner of boat away from centre line. Circular speedo gives speed in knots and counter gives distance through water. Remember to take reading before you switch of power as counter returns to zero when you switch off power.
This log gives a much more acurate reading than any through hull type, but remember to take in the cable and spinner before going astern and when at anchor.
