I'm trying to integrate a Stow Dataline system to more modern kit. The wire colurs are consistent: red, white, brown, green & black, but there's no mention in the bits and pieces of manuals that I have of what each colour means.

Does anyone know? It's the NMEA + and common that I really need to identify.

I've taken a guess after poring through a few manuals online. Main clues is that in one case brown was left unconnected and in another the recommendation was to connect green to black. This is just an semi-educated guess.

Red +ve
White NMEA+
Brown ????
Green NMEA Common
Black -ve

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

Try - http://www.stowemarine.com/archive/dataline databox.pdf or http://www.stowemarine.com/archive.htm The copy is not very good but it may help. All my info on dataline is on he boat and I'm at home now.

Thanks, Boathook.

That's the manual I have.

On page 8 it shows "NMEA BUS TO REPEATERS" with five wires: Red, white, Brown, Green & Black. That's the one where I'm trying to find out what each wire does. I want to take off a feed of the NMEA 0183 data and connect it to a convertor to NMEA 2000 to feed into an autopilot. So I need to be able to identify which of the five wires is the NMEA+ and NMEA- or NMEAcommon.

It's a project that's probably going to take me a month or so to plan and start ordering the bits, so any info you can find on the boat that helps me identify the wires would be very welcome.
