anyone know what happened to this famous classic racing ketch, made famous in the movie Dead Calm? I thought I read last year that she had been purchased in Singapore or Thailand where she had been chartered, and was on her way to the UK.

Last saw her maybe 15 years ago on Hong Kong to Manila race

She was featured in a recent Yachting World sailing at last year's classics regatta at Hyres or somewhere similar. Looking great and racing hard

According to an Ozzie boat tied up a few boats from me, she is alive and well and tied up in the Sychelles (sp).

thanks for that. That site may well be where I read of her return to Europe rather than the UK.
Anyone know if she actually took part in the classic race reffered to?

Had the pleasure of racing against her in the 1964 Hobart,she took line honours,the boat that won on corr time was Freya,now anchored in Bequai.The Ocean71s were meant to be a f/g copy but couldnt compete with her.

Seemed to remember that she was designed by Van De Stadt for the owner of Brunzeel plywood and made of same.

There was a boat called Stormvogel anchored in Grenada a few days ago. White topsides though. Nicely maintained varnish on the cabinsides.

I did not pay that much attention but from memory it was similar to the pics online of the racer Stormvogel.
