Storms force 12

It has blown 74 mph in Lowestoft this morning so far. The Coastguard in the South West are advising "We would strongly advise owners when they awake in the morning and the winds have abated to go and check their vessels to see if they have suffered any damage or whether their moorings need securing, and that their vessels remain watertight."

AT least 2 vessels sunk and lifeboats launched. More News Here

I can confirm that it is not very nice in Lowestoft.
awoken from a drunken haze on board this morning with the lines tugging hard on the cleats. alls well though and no damage.

and i think it will brighten up shortly. the back edge of the front is in sight.

and its been raining very hard too which gave me a chance to get some nice pictures of the canopy leaking.

Well been awake here in the Isle of man all night, wind is horrendous, thought the roof was coming off, still blowing 60 knts accross the bay.

Lots of us down the marina last night checking boats, pontoon was like bouncing up and down like a hobby horse.

Stayed in the night on the boat in chichester. It was very rough and at 2:00 in the morning I was adding some more lines to the boat next door and emptying anothers canopy that was about to rip apart.

98 mph winds

Mumbles Coast guard reported winds of 98mph last night here in Swansea. I have not had time to go around the Marina to see if there has been any damage, but I gues if there were problems the Marina would contact those concerned. Swmbo was surprised I declined staying on the boat last night ,and giving up a night out with the lads /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

having pulled a Rodman 800 from under the pontoon where it's integral bathing platform was stuck at midnight, and put more lines on mine, it wasn;t enough...........the Rodman held but the boat in front of mine was puched back by the wind sufficently for my anchor to make contact with his bathing platform in the height of it around 0500h this morning.

Damage ''significant' - more to his than mine although the 5mm thick stainless plates holding my anchor roller have been bent substantially ...........

No one hurt - we'll sort it out between us cheerfully enough.

Whilst we were bothin our vans it wasn't possible to go on the pontoons as they were bucking so severevly and had 2-3 foot of water washing over them at 'great speed'!
