No not that lovely town in south of England. The one in West Australia. Currently as I write being hit by 100 knot winds of cyclone Narelle. Exmouth is on the very west point of Oz. The town is essentially used to cyclones having shelters and cyclone rated buildings. They get this kind of storm perhaps once per year.
Cyclone Narelle is remarkable in that it started in Pacific ocean east of North Queensland. It psses over cape York through gulf of Carpentaria strengthening, then across land South of Darwin to re emege in Indian Ocean again strengthening to turn south and move down the coast of West Australia. By the time it fizzles out over colder water or land to the south of West Oz it will have half circumnavigated Oz.been in the news for weks. Should not be a real problem where I am in Perth but bringing boat home this morning. I guess that is the end of summer. ol'will

Simultaneously we have 11m swells/seas outside Sydney Harbour, the port is closed. We are forecast Gale and Storm force winds. We have snow inland. All caused by weather systems originating in Antarctica and a big low off Sydney in the Tasman. It probably will not last long 24/48 hours but a real issue for the cruise industry.

So much for the idea that Australia is all about beaches, BBQs and Bikinis

Some reports 130 knot wind gusts and significant damage but now they are cleaning up. Towns further south report horrible dust storms with the first of the winds coming off the dry land followed by torrential rain. Anyway by now it is fizzling out. ol'will

I’m trying to imagine 11m swells off Sydney, and I’m completely failing to do so!
