I am looking at a couple of Storebro RC [both with a GRP hull], to take through the canals and into the med...
Any advice / thoughts / comments would be very much appreciated!

With regard to the structure, many of these were fitted with teak deck over plywood which harbours a major problem if & when the teak deck leaks. The other area is the Mahogany superstructure. A lot of problems with freshwater decay around the numerous joints for the front screen & side panels. This is mainly because of the way it is constructed using a lot of different sections jointed together.

Many moons ago I used to maintain the finishes on a Royal 34 for a client.
The boat had spent time in the Med, where the varnished superstructure had been painted because the varnish was a nightmare to keep up. When my clients bought it they had the paint stripped and 2 pack linear polyurethane sprayed on. This started to crack over the joints and generally flake off in some places after the first season, and I spent many a happy day on her scraping, sanding and yacht varnishing in nice weather and getting paid. I think I was on that boat more than the owners!
I'd be massively suspicious of a teak on plywood deck too

Take care!

Did my VHF DSC course with a guy new to boating who had bought a 34 with the GRP hull and wooden superstructure. He had a full survey done which it passed. Shortly after he noticed leaks and another survey was undertaken revealing major structural failure in the superstructure which was going to cost £000's to repair. He had recourse against his surveyor to some extent but insurers were considering writing it off.

Such a shame because they are otherwise lovely boats.
