As we like to use proper glass 'drinking glasses' I am trying to find a solution to storing a selection of glasses onboard; so that they dont 'clink or rattle' under sail, and are secure but accessible.

I would be interested in your solutions for glass/bottle storage, especially cheap DIY options.

I have a Westerly Fulmar, so I have a little locker space available. Pictures are always a bonus.

Many thanks in advance.

Drink right out the bottle??

No need to thank me...

I like where you're coming from, infact nearly a perfect solution. Unfortunately, my Missus is rather more sofffisticatid than me. She may need a straw dispenser. The only commercialy available product seems to be something called a Muggi.... a reference to the amount of money they demand from you to purchase one?

......

we also like to use Glas Glasses and proper Mugs when not at sea. Our solution is to have them in a rack seperated by upright pegs. Then we put plastic cups and beakers on top of (and slightly stacked into) them. The plastic ones all jam together and stop any rattling. Has worked well for 10 years in all sorts of weather. The breakages are usually caused by 'operator' error.:D

Sheet of 4mm ply fixed an inch or two above the bottom of the locker, with individual round cutouts for glasses.

Won't work for stemmed wineglasses, but should be ok for anything else. I reckon there's nothing wrong with wine out of a good-quality rounded tumbler (not cut-glass though) and it's certainly more practical on board.
