After taking a shower in the marina shower block I decided to dry my towel on a radiator. On returning the following morning some Git had nicked my towel. I was absolutely livid and complained loudly to reception. "I know its only a five quid towel but thats not the point it's theft of my belongings" I stated. "and furthermore if I see the lowlife with it then he will need it cos he will be going for a swim in the lake head first" What really annoyed me was that the perpetrator has to be a fellow berth holder who like me is paying thousands for a marina berth but feels the need to nick my stuff instead of buying his own. Whatever next will this lowlife steel. Has anyone else suffered a theft of something stupid, or indeed not so stupid from boat or marina.
Regards very very annoyed Ian.

Sat on the boat one day quietly reading my book with windows open, heard two guys discussing how they were going to come back that night and nick my passerelle that was disconnected and lying on the pontoon. They were discussing how they would fit it to their boat.
I let them know in no uncertain terms what I thought and reported it immediately to Marina reception.
Incidentally, they were British and had their boat moored three down from us on our pontoon - chancers just passing through.

It's not unheard of for foreign visitors to "borrow" tenders either, and probably we have some low lifes who "borrow" them back. At least the towel wasn't nicked while you were in the shower.

We've had towels and fishing rods nicked from the boat before. Thief even left some of his burger wrapper and crumbs behind. This was while it was lifted out in the Marina carpark.

I got a cheap watch nicked from the Showers at WMV 2 years ago. I put all my stuff down on a chair as the two showers were being used and utilised the toilet. 5 mins later came out and watch gone!

Mind you when I was in 'Cal n Bosch' marina in Menorca 2 years ago someone used my boat to sit on one afternoon (we were at the water park) and left a very nice back pack with a towel in it. Both are still on the boat for 'emergency' use.

Some people just have no respect....

Are you up ythis week? I am hoping to get up there on Monday for a few days.

I have heard of the marina removing towels that have been left out, you might want to check with reception again just to make sure they did not move yours for "safe keeping" in I believe the boat shed somewhere!!!!

Are you telling me you dont have hot water ?
Paul
Yes will be there sat evening till mon evening for a well earned chill, give us a look in if your around. By the way hows the canopy coming along, my one is about to be ordered.
Jim
Yes I thought that so I asked Steve but his reply was that they only move them if they have been there a few days. Not sure if I am convinced though cos there was only a few of us there sun night.

Sorry Ian, that annoyed me as well. Just the blatentness (if there is such a word) of the people talking about nicking so loudly, violence would have been used! /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Then embarrassment when they explain that all they were saying was they had one nicked just like that.... /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

The thing that I really can't understand about these people is "who the hell wants someone elses towel anyway" Not that I am a dirty git or that the towel was'nt a decent one but "who the hell wants someone elses towel" And you would think you could afford your own if you can afford a 3K berthing fee.
You know when I'm annoyed, its when I start repeating myself. I said its when I start repeating myself.
I hope I see my towel this weekend cos I am gunna chuck the git in.

Can't imagine anyone wanting to use some elses towel - but maybe they had an oil leak and want a ready supply of rags - ideal, quick (and cheap) solution.

Always worked for me. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I agree.

I mean it is like someone taking a pair of pants left on the radiator, they may be clean and in good condition, but why the hell would you want someone else's!

Can I ask what colour the towel is, if it is white, I am chucking all of mine in the bin and buying blue ones! I can just imagine coming back from the shower and being hurled into the marina by a bloke who keeps repeating "My towel! My Towel!!!"

What marina did the incident take place?
