Stop Start Batteries ( Slight boaty connection!)

I guess we do not really need these on our boats but I have just had to fit one on my car and wondered if they used any special technology which would benefit our onboard use.
And I knew just the experts to ask !!

When I investigated replacing the one in the car there seemed to be people who offered them pretty cheaply ( ebay of course) and garages whose intake of breath when stop start was mentioned was only a bit less than mine when they told me the price!

So are stop start batteries significantly better and thus significantly more expensive than' ordinary ones' please ?

They tend to be reasonable quality AGM batteries. The factory-fitted domestic bank on my Bavaria comprises 3 Exide AGM "stop start" batteries.
