Stolen outboards Essex

Friday night 5 outboards and control gear were stolen from boats moored at Papermill lock on the river chelmer, all cables and pipes were cut through by bolt croppers and also anti theft devises !

Make models and serial numbers are unknown too me

But please keep an eye out.

Just a update , another two boats on the opposite bank have been raided and damaged . tried to remove outboards but were unable to remove security locks .

This incident is very alarming, was there any police patrol in the vicinity? You guys will conduct and form a community watch every night, boats aren't cheap right? I remember when I was in Australia there was a guy trying to break in in my neighbors boat, he unwittingly raided the boat but unfortunately for him my neighbor's pit bull was there.

I've had several outboards stolen in the past. The only thing I found is to take it home. Not found a chain/ padlock to work yet. Welcome any advice on gear that does work to prevent theft (which doesnt involve painting the outboard bright pink)
