One called "Liquidity" was recently stolen from the berth opposite ours in Gouvia Marina Corfu from under the nose of it's liveaboard minder.

Estimated value - Circa £250,000

According to the Interpol officers who visited last week, these boats are stolen to order and it will probably end up in the Carribean having been re-painted and "re- identitied" after having been craned up into a seagoing mobile workshop. The boat in the adjacent berth is an Aphrodite 51 and it's owner is, as I write, organising a "Tracker" to be fitted as well as microchips to be inserted into the hull lamination.

A couple of questions, Steve . .
a) How was it stolen, exactly, "from under the nose". A crew turned up, untied her and sailed (motored) her away? Whilst the minder was doing the shopping?
I'm interested to know how quickly (and maybe easily) these things are done.
b) Seagoing workshop. What the dickens is that? You mean they crane the boat into a . . freighter? . . and set to work repainting etc while crossing the pond?
