STOLEN SPORTS CUDDY 1994 Four Winns Sundowner 215 on Trailer "ROXDEN"

Hi folks forgive me for this posting but I'm willing to try anything at the moment having had my Boat Stolen last Thursday (26th October). The Boat in Question is a Four Winns 215 Sundowner on a Parrymore 4 wheel braked trailer. The boat is white with a turqoise green hull stripe and accents to the interior trim. It's a 94 boat and the hull serial number is 4WNCM0861394 with an OMC cobra outrive serial number T0781965 and 5.0efi V8. The 4 wheel trailer serial number is BT942, has a German Hersteller hitch TYP KRV30 and Avonride axles serial number 99260237 on the front axle. The boat was forcibly taken from Val Wyatt Marina in Wargrave nr. Henley on Thames and a gate lock was cut and the wheel clamp bludgeoned off. It was taken using a double wheel vehicl such as a large van or pickup.

The boat has a distinctive turqoise green tonneau and a full camper hood in a similar colour. It has back to back seating, a rear bench seat and a black perspex door to the cuddy and a round black glass hatch to the coachroof. Distinguishing marks include a small "tyre" print on the rear seat squab where the black dye from the spare wheel tyre rubber left a permanent mark on the white vinyl upholstery. There are also a number of CAT (caterpillar logo) stickers including a large one on the transom above the swimm ladder.

The Sundowner 215 is quite rare in this country and it must be somewhere, and I'd like it back!. Any replies are welcome from anyone with similar experiences that might help in knowing where to look, but if anyone can lead me to it there is a tidy sum on offer.

Many thanks, Malcolm Thomas@datatype.net (07831 166344) or see www.datatype.net/stolen for pictures.

If it turns up on the CI and I see it here I'll let you know...Four Wins is not a popular brand over here so will stick out.

I am usually roaming around the marinas on a regular basis as I sometimes take boats and clients out for the local brokers. We have had a couple of stolen ones turn up in the last 2 years.

Byron,

You might be right, it's really too big and too unusual to be sold on easily, and it's not the sort of "Sunday speedboat" someone could keep on their drive, it must weigh a couple of tons with it's trailer and requires a substantial vehicle to shift it around.

Maybe it could be broken for spares, the insurance adjuster though, thinks it more likely it will do the rounds on the fringes of the car trade perhaps passing through an auction somewhere before it turns back up as someones "legitimate" buy. The Police on the other hand seem to suspect a local semi-permanent "traveller" camp at Arborfield as several stolen caravans have been linked to them, frankly it seems too easy to blame them. Although I did go past there on Sunday and it's like a scene from Beirut with newish cars and pickups burnt out all around the site, and, if you look at the map the road left from Val Wyatt's does go straight there.

I've faxed the details all over including Dover Police, lots of Marinas, the Coastguard even, but as you suggest no-one checks boats going across the channel and it would probably just fit into a container - perhaps that's the criteria for stealing it - who knows.

In some ways though I blame myself, previous boats have been kept in the secure compound at Port Solent, I originally took it to Val Wyatts so Peter Humphries could source me a spare prop. I should have put it somewhere safer.

Insurance.. well we'll see, I'd recently fitted all new exhaust manifolds hoses pumps batteries etc.. so I'm unlikely to recover all those costs. I'm not going to give up just yet though as I would like to catch the ba***ds.

Thanks for your support.

Malc

Well I think that everyone would hope that you catch the bastards. I'm based down in the SW and will also keep a look out.

I do hope you get it back and in one piece. All I can say is I will keep a look out down in Southampton/Solent, I am familier with this type of boat - Green hull should be easy to spot.

Best of luck.

You certainly don't need to appologise for posting, Malc, that's what it's all about.

I've printed off your message, and will keep it with me when I'm on the South Coast to remind me what we're looking for.

I can only add my good luck wishes, don't need ****'s when describing such bastards. I'ts a mild term for them I'd call 'em **&^%%"@#!

I have a freind that owns a shipping business throughout the south coast to Europe and moves boats occasionally...I'll mention it to him tonight. I know its a long shot but if we network this then the chances of seeing it again are much greater......if you don't go fishing you definately won't catch fish!!

Can't stand theiving scum.

Not much I can add in the way of helpful advice. I can't imagine how gutted you must be. I had an attempted theft some years ago, but fortunately friends disturbed the thieves. If the culprits are caught, let me know and we'll send down the Glasgow boys to persuade them not to re-offend. Good Luck

If you have some digital pictures of your boat I can load them onto the web tonight for you. May help people get a clearer idea of what to look out for.

Email them to andy@4-site.co.uk
