On our boat we have a Stirling Power Freeze Cool Heat Box (portable fridge 12 -24 v) about 6 yrs old. To one side of the controls there is a small screw cap to what appears to be a resovoir for liquid of some description that is nearly empty. Would anyone know what i should top it up with please? I have tried ringing Stirling Power but they never answer and i can't find fridges on their website. Thanks in anticipation.

This is a device based on the Stirling principle ??

Have you been trying to contact Sterling Power ??

Have look for a manufacturer's name

Coleman perhaps??

tasting sweet sounds like a glycol perhaps.

Ethylene glycol is toxic, propylene glycol is not so that may be what it is.

Could be glycerol ( Propylene glycol is propane-diol, glycerol is the triol )

BUT unless it has leaked or been spilt it probably has only lost water by evaporation.

propane-diol solutions are used as a heat transfer medium in refrigeration equipment in the food industry.
