Just had my boat lifted out for service/warranty work. My pride and joy is sat on terra firma supported by wooden stilts. Can anyone please advise how safe/secure/reliable these stilts are from preventing the boat (mobo) toppling over. Should it be put on a cradle or supported with something better than a few logs bearing in mind service etc?

Sarcastic and funny replies awaited, I'm a Newbie!!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Do not alter it in any way, if it does fall you or your Insurers will need to sue the yard, if it is too late and you have already tampered with it dont forget " it wasnt me".
Ask the berthing master to check it , a letter would have best results and give you some protection.

This is quite a normal practice and despite the value of the boats across the country many are held in place with these dubious looking bits of wood, Unless of course you come to a proper Marina cos here in Swansea we have posh metal padded acro type prop stands!!!!!

Yes, it's standard practice. I've never had my boat fall over yet /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. As others have said, don't move the posts. In spite of appearances, they (should!) have been positioned by experts, who know what they are doing, and any attempt to move them by you will end in disaster - and the displeasure of both your insurers, and those of the boats around you that get dislodged when you fall over.......

The weight of the boat usually sits on solid timber blocks under the keel and the wooden props are only there to stop the boat falling over and actually take very little weight. As jhr says its standard practice although I agree they do look a bit Heath Robinson
