Still falling - where will it end!

Barograph down to 961 in Norfolk and still falling. My graph paper runs out at 950!

Looking at XC weather the low is still to move across, over NW England now.

Mine's calibrated in inches Hg, so wossa conversion factor please?

Try a quick Google (type Convert: in Hg to mm Hg) gives:
1 inch of mercury = 25.3970886 mm Hg
So 961 mm Hg is equivalent to 37.84" Hg

Google will recognise most units if you type Convert: - very useful.

Ta for that. OK, that gives me a reading of 959 mB north of Worthing. That is the lowest I have seen here in 6 years. Coo!

Not so!! The 961 they're talking about are not mm Hg but millibars (or whatever PingpongPascalls they have nowadays) At 37.8 inches of Hg it wouldn't be raining like this!

Why make it so complicated? One inch = 25.4mm. Of mercury, chips, vindaloo paste or whatever else you care to think of.

Of course you're right, and if it hadn't been so long since I used inches of Hg then I would have realised just looking at the figures. Let's hope this is a bit better:
Try dividing the 961 by 33.8369 instead to give you 28.4"
