Sticky control lever

I have a combined throttle/gear lever in the cockpit. It's getting difficult to shift into gear after leaving the boat for a couple of weeks. Any idea what old be the problem. I've not ad a chance to take it apart to av a look yet

The control cable made need changing. They are usually solid stainless wire and can break down the sleeve.

Best thing is to take the control lever off so you can release the cable here and at the engine control to manipulate it and the lever by hand separately so you now where the problem is. If the cable is the problem, get a new one. If the control is the problem you may need a spray of lithium grease ..... works well with my Morse control.

I hadn't thought of the cable being at fault. I'll take a look next time I'm down at the boat
