Came across this today from RS. 1m x 2m x 3mm thick sticky backed neoprene sheet.

RS stock No. 340-2601. £28.60 per sheet.

I have not compared this price against that many nautical sources, but the ones I have compared it against appear to be almost 4 times more expensive.

RS also do a non-sticky back version for £19.95 per sheet

I would have thought the 19mm or 25mm wide closed cell foam sticky backed tape far better for bedding windows/perspex. It's available from most chandlers and is excellent.

I've re-bedded the windows on two boats with it over the years and never had a leak occur yet.

I have just used that stuff for machine guard seals. Note that if you get the sticky side wet in any way it looses all stickiness.

I also do not know if it is UV stabilized as it is mostly dark were they are. I found no specs on the sticky part.

It is akin to sponge rubber and double sided tape. It is not what I expected, where the adhesive is on the rubber. For example those pads that glue rear view mirrors to windscreens. It does not look good from the outside either, but its just a prototype.

Re: [SolarNeil]

Looked up the RS web site for neoprene sheeting, because I remember this being recommended for the job on the forum or in the yachting press. Sounds like the closed cell foam the chandlers have on offer is different to neoprene. Need large quantity, front / side cabin widows to do on Prout cat.

Think it was also recommended on the forum to cut the foam approximately 3mm back from the edge of the perspex and finish / seal this in with a UV resistant sealer. Planning to do this, unless strongly advised not to, but not sure what sealer to use.

Cheers
