so, seams recaulked, starting to get jiggy with the putty. decided on a concoction of linseed oil putty, white lead and a spot of grease. (this the above the water line seams BTW - still working on finding somewhere to haul out to do the wet bits)

fingers/knife/trowel??

I've been using a combination of the above, mainly fingers followed up with a putty knife. slow and messy but getting there

just wondering if anyone had any little secrets as to the best way to get the stuff in the seams?

also thought about brushing the seams with a good dose of linseed oil and leaving it for a bit first - the seams were all painted with red lead before caulking, just wondered wether the extra oil might help it all stick and settle in a bit happier

one thing for sure though - all the white lead has convinced me to stop biting my finger nails!

had a thought today actually, if I warm the putty a little, add a tiny little bit more grease or oil, and work it together a lot more, I might be able to force it through a caulking gun
