Tigger is developing a very infrequent but annoying habit of sticking in reverse. Any ideas what one might want to look for? At the moment the non-satisfactory, but functional, cure is to switch off the engine, disengage and turn back on. Advice?

What type of gearbox/engine, it would help in diagnosis, but at present have you checked the level of oil in the gearbox is ok and the correct sae oil. Does it stick in reverse all the time or only on start up and is ok when warm...

It could be any of the following
Firstly, it could be the cable control to the gearbox quadrant it could be sticking, and need some maintenance, or the lever could be sticking and also need maintenance(grease or oiling).

the gearbox cone or selector could need adjusting or replacing, (this is a guess as do not know type of gearbox you have)

You have moved or fitted something in engine bay and it is catching on gearbox quadrant or cables(or cable kinked)..

I would grease up the cable and gearbox/revs lever, and check the cables arent kinked or bent, check gearbox levels are ok. whilst tied up at pontoon run engine and select reverse and see what happens and see if it makes a difference...

VP 2030/120S.

We have done all you suggest re cables etc, and did not find probs there. It is a very "erratic" and rare occurrence, but it keeps happening from time to time.

Have you looked at the top end by the wheel? Could be a problem there, happened once to us - took us ages to find it.
