I would use Lithium water resistant grease as recommended for boat trailers. If you have a steel stern tube, do not use any grease that contains graphite. Graphite, being carbon is very high on the galvanic scale and might cause corrosion.
The recommended greases for my stern gland are: Duckhams keenol, Mobilgrease special, Fina Marson HTLZ, Shell retinax A, BP energrease L2, Esso multipurpose grease H, Castrol LM grease. It is a standard stern tube with rubber hose and gland packing.

In actual fact Graphite is No 92 on the Galvanic table. Just a bit less active than Gold and Silver. There is absolutely no reason to think Graphite grease would cause corrosion. Total rubbish!
Yes , there are some stern glands that require grease and some that do not. Those using mechanical seals typically rely on water lubrication and those using lip seals may rely on water, oil or grease. The seal on my own boat is normally just water lubricated (it uses lip seals).
