What’s the forum wisdom on anti fouling stern gear (like the P bracket and the shaft / propeller itself)?

Is it worth trying to antifoul it or will it just come off in the first 5 minutes?

Same question with the bow thruster? I’d have to put a paint brush on a stick to get inside the tunnel, it’s tiny.

I do paint the thruster props as they usually come off anyway to replace the anodes. The P bracket too on the basis that it doesn't actually move. The shaft - not usually, although I do anti-foul props (inconsistent logic) with Lanoguard which sticks on pretty well.

I’ve used silic one this year, I don’t know how good it will be but it reads well and comes in a nice shiny box so it must be good 🤣

I antifoul the thruster blades and it stays on reasonably well - Hempel Hard Racing, and the P bracket. Like Jon above, I have gone for a specialist product for the rudders, prop and shaft but I am trying Propspeed. Will see how effective it is later in the season.

Silic one doesn't stick to props but it's very good on a planing hull.

Had it on my sports cruiser for 3 seasons with excellent results

Displacement hulls don't fare so well but the slime just wipes off easily

Good luck with that.

Superheat6k of this parish used it with poor results - however I recommended Silic one for the hull and he used that on his Corvette 32. Now he's going to use it on his new boat too so a big recommendation..
I’ve read various reviews, from what I read the level of success is directly linked to the application process and following the guidance. I think I followed the process fairly well so I’ll wait and see how well it shakes up over the next year. If it’s good I’ll report back, if not so good I’ll try not to mention it and hope you forget I wasted £70 on 250ml of paint.
I’ve spoken to people that have used the hull silic anti foul and they are very pleased, faster onto the plane and running with the bow lower than before.

I hope the prop treatment works - it should do.

I gained 1.5 knots on my top speed (or better fuel consumption at the same speed).

Apart from a few abrasions caused by logs rubbing against the coating it was very resilient. It would have lasted another 2 years and then it only requires another topcoat.

It also meant that I just had a lift and hold rather than chocking off which saved ££. A quick gentle jet wash to get the slime off the transom was all I needed, then back in for another year....

Have always antifouled Rudders/"P" brackets/ trim tabs and shafts if any spare A/F.
Never bothered with props as using the boat seems to do the job suprisingly well.
